According to the police report filed by Darji, when Bhavya was looking for his school notebooks in a drawer in the living room, he came across the service revolver which was loaded.

PALANPUR/AHMEDABAD: Tragedy struck the family of a circle police inspector (CPI), P D Darji, a resident of Modasa town in Aravalli district on Thursday morning, when his service revolver accidentally discharged and the bullet hit his nine-year-old son, Bhavya, in the stomach. Bhavya died while being treated at a hospital. Darji, who is posted in Bayad, told police that the incident happened around 7.30am when Bhavya was getting ready for school. He lives at Parth Duplex on Malpur Road in Modasa and is a native of Vijaynagar town.
According to the police report filed by Darji, when Bhavya was looking for his school notebooks in a drawer in the living room, he came across the service revolver which was loaded. When Bhavya picked up the revolver and touched the trigger it fired and the bullet hit the nine-year-old in the stomach. He was rushed to a private hospital where he died during treatment. Bhavya's body has been sent for postmortem.
A case has been registered with Modasa town police station and further investigation is under way.
