We stayed in Slalom Creek Unit #506 for a week over New Years. The unit has a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with a queen bed, a loft with two double beds and a pull out sofa, a small/bedroom like den with a pull-out double sofa, an open kitchen/dining room/living room, and a deck with a hot tub. The unit is on the 5th floor and looks directly out onto the base area and ski runs of Red Mt.
We had my wife and I in the master bedroom, my 78 year old parents in the second bedroom, our three sons (ages 25, 24, and 19) in the loft, and our 2.5 year old daughter in the small den. The condo felt new, with everything being extremely nice and very up to date. In spite of being there for a week, there was no problems with congestion. The loft had plenty of room and 3 different beds for the young men, while the 2.5 year old did great on the couch in the den (able to close her door when she went to bed, while everyone else was still awake). The table had seats for all 8 of us easily. The kitchen was well supplied and we cooked all our meals except one in the condo (absolutely excellent meal at Gypsy at Red, reached by walking 25 yards out the parking garage main entrance), with plenty of room for everyone to help. We were able to stow a weeks worth of food in the kitchen, without leaving anything on the counter, including all our perishables and frozen food in the refrigerator/freezer. The open floor plan allowed everyone to spend quality time together. The hot tub was maintained daily by the staff, and we used it every night. We were able to park both of our SUVs in the underground parking. There was an elevator to take us to the 5th floor, with carts to transport items, as needed. The first floor had an excellent ski storage room, with a combination lock provided by the front desk; our locker easily fit 6 pairs of skis and poles.
The location is immediately adjacent to the base of Red Mountain. My non-skiing mother was able to watch skiers from anywhere in the living/dining room/deck area. The complex is about 20 feet below the ski run, requiring either walking up that fairly steep slope (was easy to ski back down by everyone except the 2.5 year old) or my father and the 2.5 year old typically elected to walk the flat 100 yards from the complex across the small upper parking lot to Red Mt's main lodge. Due to the layout of the Red Mt. and the location of the condo, everyone returned daily for lunch. On New Years Eve, we were able to enjoy the Red Mt. fireworks show from the comfort of our living room. Of course, this being Red Mt., we had no crowds, no lift lines, and everyone was extremely nice.
Overall, a wonderful trip and a great place to stay: we would strongly recommend this property.
